Charles B. Sumner Scholarship
The Charles B. Sumner Scholarship was established in 1958, with gifts from President Emeritus George C.S. Benson and Miss Guenevere Metkiff, George Benson’s godmother and the protégé of the Reverend Charles B. Sumner, in honor and memory of Reverend Sumner, President Benson’s grandfather. Charles Sumner was a leading figure in organizing the Associated Colleges in Claremont.
